What do you love most about your job?

At Joy’s Caribbean Fusion (Vegan) I really enjoy meeting and engaging with our customers and our fellow traders. I find cooking very therapeutic and the act of cooking fills me with joy. The most rewarding thing about my job is the look of absolute satisfaction on the faces of my customers after trying our dishes.

A tip for women who want to work in your sector?

My biggest tip to women who would like to work in my sector is not to procrastinate due to lack of funding. The local markets provide fantastic opportunities for you to start and showcase your ideas. It is essential to be confident in your product and choose an area that you are passionate about.

What do you like most about running your business in Royal Greenwich?

The Royal Brough of Greenwich is diverse vibrant and rich in culture. I really enjoy the opportunities that the borough offers for small businesses. This is evident in the activities that it puts on throughout the year across the borough. As a small business owner I feel valued.

What role does your business play in the local area?

Joy’s Caribbean Fusion (Vegan) plays an important role in promoting healthy eating. At Joy’s we are environmentally conscious, and we think about the planet when preparing our meals or creating new recipes. Our company is 100% plant based Caribbean vegan. Trading via local markets in Greenwich helps to create a community entity. It also helps to bring individuals and families together in open spaces where they are able to socialise and enjoy local activities, whilst supporting local businesses.
