Autism outreach support
Service details and contacts
We support individual children with an autism diagnosis by providing:
- specialist advice from a range of professionals, including specialist teachers, speech and language therapists, outreach workers and occupational therapists
- individual children with consultative visits and ongoing support
- schools with a range of training opportunities to develop understanding of autism and good educational practice
- training and support in the implementation of specialist interventions in school
- support group interventions, such as social skills and friendship groups
- smooth transitions through a structured programme of support for pupils, for example, when pupils are moving from primary to secondary school
We support the families of children with an autism diagnosis by offering:
- training to help families understanding and their ability to support their child
- parent training that’s appropriate for the age of their child
- ongoing support, advice, and signposting
We support children pre-diagnosis who have a social communication difficulties. This includes:
- targeted support
- chargeable ongoing support - a social communication outreach worker in school 1 day per week providing interventions to a group of pre-diagnosis pupils
