Types of permission for listed buildings

It is a criminal offence to carry out works to a listed building without listed building consent. Even if you did not know it was a listed building.

There are two types of permission you may need.

Certificate of Lawfulness of Proposed Works to a Listed Building

You can apply for this if the proposed works will not affect the character of the listed building.

Listed Building Consent

You'll need consent for any alteration or extension that affects the character of a listed building. Or if you wish to demolish a listed building.

Contact us if you are not sure which type of permission to apply for.
