Disposing of clothes and other textiles

You can dispose of clean clothing, footwear, knitwear, bed linen and other unwanted textiles in a number of ways.

Free collection service

Use our free textile collection service by calling Street Services to discuss your options and arrange a collection day.

Items we collect include:

  • men's, women's and children's clothing
  • paired shoes, boots, wellies and slippers (put them in a bag)
  • hats, scarves and gloves
  • handbags and belts
  • leather clothing
  • bed linen, blankets, sheets and pillowcases.

Put the textiles in bags and print out a label to attach to each bag (if you can't print it out, you can attach your own label).

Download a textile collection service label to print

When you leave your bags out, make sure that the label is clearly visible to the collection crew.
