What happens next

You'll get an email to confirm your application and payment.

It can take up to 12 weeks for us to process your application.

If you do not need a licence, we'll let you know and refund any payment you made.

If we decide not to issue a licence, we'll tell you why.

When we issue a draft licence

We'll issue a draft licence first. You have 3 weeks from the date of issue to check it. If you think something's not right, you can make representations for us to consider.

If we accept your representations, we'll issue another draft licence for you to consider.

If we reject your representations, we'll still issue a final licence but you can appeal a property licence decision.

If we have not decided on your application within 52 weeks, tacit consent will apply. This means you'll be considered as having a licence.

When you'll get a refund

You'll only get a refund if:

  • your property does not need a licence, for example it's exempt
  • you make a duplicate application

You do not need to apply. We'll refund you automatically if we find that you're entitled to it when we're processing your application.
