What happens next
You'll get an email to confirm your application and payment.
It can take up to 12 weeks for us to process your completed application.
If we need more information, we'll let you know.
If you do not need a licence, we'll let you know and refund any payment you made.
If we decide not to issue a licence, we'll tell you why.
When we’ll inspect your property
We may need to inspect your property before or after we issue a licence. We do this to make sure it meets our standards and is safe for tenants.
We will inspect all properties with a mandatory HMO licence at least once during the licence period.
We aim to inspect most properties with additional HMO or selective licences during the licence period.
We can inspect a property more than once during the licence period. For example, if people tell us they’re concerned or complain about the condition of a property.
When we issue a draft licence
We'll issue a draft licence first. You have 3 weeks from the date of issue to check it's correct. If you think it's not, you can make representations for us to consider.
If we reject your representations, we'll still issue a final licence but you can appeal a property licence decision.
After that, we'll issue the final licence.
If we have not decided on your application within 52 weeks, tacit consent will apply. This means you'll be considered as having a licence.
If we owe you a refund
We’ll refund you automatically if we find that you’re entitled to it when we’re processing your application.
