School preferences for children and young people with EHCPs

Tell us your secondary school preferences for a child that has an EHCP

If your child has an EHCP and is moving to secondary school, you will need to tell us your preferred schools.

You must select at least 3 schools in order of your preference.

The child must not be older than 12 years by July 31 at the time of completion of this form.

Before you start

You will be asked about:

  • the child and who is completing the form
  • the child’s current school, if any
  • your preferred secondary schools
  • information that may help us understand the child’s needs, such as siblings or travel support

Make sure you have:

  • read the admission guide and criteria of the schools you want to apply to
  • consent from a parent or legal guardian if you are filling this form on their behalf

If you are completing the form on behalf of the child, answer the questions as if you are the parent or carer.

Completing this form means you agree to the child's preferences being discussed at a specialist placement panel if needed.

What happens next

Once you've told us your preferences, we will review your application and contact you if we need more details.

If you have chosen a Local Authority Resource Provision (LARP) or special school, the child will be discussed at the relevant admissions panel in the Autumn term.

If you chose a school or provision outside the borough, we’ll inform the local council about your application.

If the child needs travel assistance to school

You will need to complete the separate travel assistance form if the child needs travel support.

Applications for help with school travel are assessed against the Royal Borough of Greenwich Transport Policy.
