Report a noise nuisance

We do not usually investigate reports of everyday noises, like:

  • noise that travels because of poor sound insulation, for example, footsteps from an upstairs flat
  • washing machine or vacuum cleaner noise
  • children playing
  • aircraft noise

Sometimes, it may need more understanding and patience instead of intervention or formal action from us.

What you can do

You should talk to the person or business making the noise first, if you can. They might not know they’re causing a problem.
