This October we are saying a massive thank you to all our foster carers’ sons and daughters for being so loving and welcoming to children who need to be cared for.

We’re sending every son and daughter of a foster carer a personal card decorated with creative pictures drawn by young people in our borough, to show our appreciation for their amazing generosity and compassion.

To mark our support of The Fostering Network’s ‘Sons and Daughters Month’, which highlights the important role foster carers’ sons and daughters play in a fostering family, we are also hosting two special ‘thank you’ events.

Additionally, all children over 5 will be given the chance to win a skateboard kindly donated to us by Only3Elements.

The past year has been tough for everyone, so we are extremely grateful for all our foster families who continue to show incredible dedication and love to children and young people who need care.

Councillor Matt Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “I’m so proud of the fostering community we have in Royal Greenwich, and, of course, the sons and daughters of our carers play a huge role in the lives of our looked-after children.

“I want to pay tribute to them for creating a loving, safe and friendly environment for other children. Thank you so much for everything you do, you should be so proud of yourselves.”

In Royal Greenwich we urgently need foster carers for our children. If you have the time and love to offer another child, we want to hear from you.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, sexualities and genders. Our friendly team are on hand to answer all your questions and guide you through the application process, or you are welcome to attend one of our information sessions.
