Sexual orientation

Sexual orientation is a person's identity in relation to the gender or genders to which they are sexually attracted.

The 2021 Census reported that there are 17,550 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or questioning), intersex, asexual, and others (LGBTQIA+) people who live in Royal Greenwich. This means that 4.5% of people in the borough identify as LGBTQIA+.

LGBTQIA+ people are at higher risk than heterosexual people of bullying, abuse, discrimination and exclusion. LGBTQIA+ people are also at greater risk of mental disorder, substance misuse and dependence, self-harm and suicidal behaviour/ideation than heterosexual people.
