Your right to appeal
You have the right to appeal if your child has been refused a place at any school you have applied for. The appeal process depends on the type of school.
Schools that use the Royal Borough's appeal process
Use our appeal process as soon as possible if the school is a:
- primary academy or community school
- secondary community or voluntary controlled school

Schools that have their own appeal process
The governors of these 'own admission authority schools' are responsible for arranging any admission appeals. Contact the school directly if you're appealing for a place at any of the following schools in the borough:
- any Church of England or Catholic primary or secondary schools
- Hawksmoor Primary School
- any secondary academy
Special educational needs
The right to appeal does not apply to children with an education, health and care plan (EHCP). If this is your child, contact the Special Needs Service.
