Increase how much you pay into your pension

You may increase your pension contributions through your employment with Royal Borough of Greenwich in the following ways:

Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs)

You may pay up to 100 per cent of your pay into an AVC scheme, after allowing for any tax and National Insurance liability or any other existing deductions you may have. The Royal Borough of Greenwich's AVC provider is Clerical Medical.

Additional Pension Contributions (APCs)

You can buy extra pension by paying APCs regularly, over a period of time, by paying in a one-off lump sum. The maximum amount of additional pension you can buy is £6,755.

Shared cost APCs cover the amount of pension 'lost' during periods of relevant child-related leave or periods of unpaid authorised leave or absence. However, this option will only be available providing you make an election to purchase the pension within 30 days of returning to work.
