Financial help for homeowners

Many homeowners miss out on extra weekly income because they do not know they can claim.

You may be able to get help towards:

Support for mortgage interest

You may get help towards your mortgage interest payments and interest on loans taken out for repairs or improvements if you receive one of the following benefits:

  •  Pension Credit Guarantee
  • Universal Credit (UC)

UC claimants may also qualify even if in low-paid work and have been receiving UC for 3 months in a row. This also applies if you moved to UC within a month of another benefit ending and you’ve spent 3 months in total getting these benefits.

Support is in the form of a loan with interest. This means you’ll pay back more than you borrowed. This will need to be repaid if you sell the property or transfer ownership to someone else.
