Tell us you're moving home

You'll need to tell us:

• your Council Tax account number
• the address you're moving out of
• your new address
• the names of everyone over 18 who'll be living at the new address
• the contact details of everyone over 18 who'll be living at the new address
• the date you're moving

If you're buying the property

You'll also need to tell us the:

• sale completion date
• solicitor or estate agent name and contact details
• forwarding address of the previous owner of the property you're moving to, if you know it

If you're renting the property

You'll also need to:

• tell us the landlord or managing agent name and contact details
• upload a signed copy of your tenancy agreement
• upload a signed and dated copy of the checkout report for the property you're leaving

What happens next

We'll send your final bill for the property you're leaving and your first bill for your new address. We'll send both to your new address.

If you have an online Council Tax account, you'll need to link your new address to your account.

Check if your new property is in a different Council Tax band.

If you get a discount or exemption

You'll need to reapply for a discount or exemption. We will not automatically transfer it to your new address.
