Celebrate safely with fireworks and bonfires
You can only buy fireworks to use at home during certain times of the year. You must be 18 or over and buy them from registered retailers.

When and where you can use fireworks
For most of the year it’s illegal to set off fireworks and sparklers between 11pm and 7am. This time is extended for:
- bonfire night, midnight
- New Year’s Eve, midnight
- Diwali, 1am
- Chinese New Year, 1am
You must not use your own fireworks in any of our parks or open spaces.

Bonfires
To stay safe and within the law if you have a bonfire:
- you must not build your own bonfire in any of our parks or open spaces
- check it well for any wildlife before you light it
- build it well away from buildings, fences and hedges
- make sure the fire is out, and the area around it is safe before leaving
