Check the rules about bonfires and BBQs
Bonfires can make pollution levels worse and harm health.
Instead of burning garden waste, you can:
- put it in your green-top bin
- take it to the Nathan Way Reuse and Recycling Centre
Check where to recycle, donate or get rid of items.
The rules for having a bonfire
If you do have a bonfire, you must:
- only burn dry garden waste
- make sure smoke does not cause a nuisance
You should also limit the amount of smoke and consider the direction it’s likely to go.
You could get a fine if you allow smoke to drift and become a danger to traffic.
Check the rules for garden bonfires on GOV.UK.
Check the rules about what fuels and appliances you can use
There are rules about smoke from chimneys and the types of fuels and appliances you can use.
