Overview
Before you ask for support, it can help to understand your own strengths and what support there is in your local area.
You can get support without needing a care assessment. This may include:
- financial support and benefits
- free and confidential advice about money, legal rights, housing and advocacy
- community support such as activities, support groups or short breaks and respite
- private care such as equipment to help you at home or visits from paid carers
- getting food delivered, hiring a cleaner or a gardener
If you feel you need extra support, you can ask for a care assessment.
This is not a test. It’s a way for us to talk to you and understand your strengths, situation and what goals or changes you would like to make in your life.
