Royal Borough of Greenwich supported internship programme
The Royal Borough of Greenwich supported internship programme gives you work experience in different council services.
You will complete work placements during the programme to help you develop workplace skills and find out what types of work you enjoy.
You will get support from tutors, job coaches and workplace mentors throughout the programme.
Work placements
The work placements available may include:
Administration
You could:
- file and scan documents
- enter information onto systems
- organise documents and other information
- help with general office tasks
Post room
You could:
- sort incoming and outgoing post
- collect and deliver post
- handle packages and deliveries
Reception and customer service
You could:
- welcome visitors
- answer questions
- help people find the service or information they need
Library
You could:
- organise books and other resources
- help library users
- help keep the library organised and welcoming
Logistics
You could:
- help move and store equipment
- keep track of equipment and supplies
- help with deliveries
Maintenance
You could:
- help with basic maintenance tasks
- support staff looking after council buildings
- help keep workplaces safe and well maintained
Transport
You could:
- help with bookings
- help organise schedules
- support administrative tasks relating to vehicles and transport
Support during the programme
You will get support to:
- develop skills for work
- become more confident and independent at work
- improve your communication and teamwork
- write your CV
- prepare for job interviews
- look for paid employment
