Your child may need support for certain parts of their learning such as:
- reading
- spelling
- writing or handwriting
- maths
- learning in general
If the school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) believes your child will benefit from our services, they’ll refer your child to the Support Team for Education in Primary and Secondary (STEPS).
How we support your child
We need your written consent so we can work with your child to understand their learning needs.
After an initial assessment, we may recommend:
- a phonics programme
- using a whole word reading approach called Word Up
- developing their maths targets to address early maths skills
- support for handwriting
- in-class strategies to support inclusion and learning
STEPS will train school staff to deliver this support.
You can also find resources to support your child’s learning at home.
Some children may need further investigation for learning difficulties. Find out about dyslexia support.
