How your support may change

Things like the type of health and housing support you get may change when you're an adult.

This is because it will focus on how to help you be more independent.

The following things may also change when you’re an adult:

  • benefits you can claim as an adult
  • how you pay for your care and activities
  • activities and ways to meet people during the day
  • mental and physical health support once you turn 25
  • housing options once you turn 25
  • job opportunities

Changes for your parents or carers

When you're an adult, you will help shape the support you need.

This will be based on your goals and outcomes. You will be given the choice to organise most of your care and activities, giving you more independence.

If a parent or carer needs support for themselves, they can request a parent carer needs assessment.
