What you'll need planning permission for

We have introduced a UK planning control called an 'article 4 direction' where the character of the area is under threat. Most of these are in conservation areas.

In article 4 direction areas there is less permitted development allowed. So you may need to apply for planning permission for most works. This includes when replacing windows and doors and re-roofing.
