Removing a tree in Royal Greenwich
We aim to protect and preserve healthy trees wherever possible.
Sometimes, we may need to remove a tree if it:
- is unsafe and poses a serious risk to the public or nearby property
- is dying or suffering from disease
How we inform the public
If we need to remove a tree, we’ll attach a Tree Felling Notice to it in advance.
The notice will explain:
- why the tree is being removed
- where the tree is located and what species it is
- the planned start date and how long the work will take
- the tree reference number
- whether a tree assessment has been carried out
- whether the tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and its reference number
- if the tree is in a conservation area
- whether there has been any public consultation
- if we plan to plant a replacement tree
