Sponsor a tree

You can sponsor the planting of a new tree within a limited quota to help make Royal Greenwich greener, healthier, and more beautiful.

We manage around 14,500 street trees in the borough, and you can contribute to growing this urban forest.

Why sponsor a tree

Trees provide numerous benefits, such as:

  • improving air quality
  • creating shade and cooling urban areas
  • supporting wildlife and biodiversity
  • enhancing the appearance of neighbourhoods
  • creating a lasting legacy for your community

How to sponsor a tree

If you'd like to sponsor the planting of a street tree, send an email to maintenance-team@royalgreenwich.gov.uk

We would choose the tree and location, continue to own it, and bear responsibility for it.

The council selects appropriate tree species for each location and maintains ongoing care and responsibility for the tree.

How much it costs

It costs £450 to sponsor a tree.

This covers the council’s expenses of:

  • providing the tree
  • its planting
  • carrying out surveys to find the best place and species to plant

The tree planting program will take place from November to March. You would need to pay by October.

What happens next

Once your sponsorship is confirmed, we'll check for available locations in the borough and select a suitable tree.

Your tree will be planted during the tree-planting season.

We'll bear responsibility for maintaining and caring for the tree once it is planted.
