Park groups and activities

Start a Friends of Parks group

If your local park does not yet have a Friends of Parks group, you can start one with support from the council.

Friends of Parks groups bring local residents together to improve and care for their park.

These volunteer groups work directly with the council's Parks team to enhance our open spaces.

What starting a Friends of Parks group involves

You may need to:

  • bring together local residents interested in helping the park
  • set up a simple committee
  • agree a constitution for the group
  • organise activities and improvement projects

Our Parks team can guide you through this process.
