Friends of Parks group

Friends of Parks groups are made up of local residents who care about their park.

They help organise clean-ups, host community events, apply for funding, and work with the council to improve facilities.

These volunteer groups work directly with the council's Parks team to enhance our open spaces. 

You can help improve and care for green spaces in Royal Greenwich by joining or starting a Friends of Parks group.

As a member of a Friends of Parks group, you can:

  • influence decisions about your local park
  • organise community events and activities
  • participate in improvement projects
  • help with conservation efforts
  • meet like-minded neighbours

Many parks and open spaces in Royal Greenwich already have active Friends of Parks Groups you can join:

  • Friends of Maryon Parks
  • Friends of Plumstead Common

Start a new Friends of Parks group 

If your local park doesn't have a Friends of Parks Group yet, we can help you set one up: 

  1. Contact our Parks team to express your interest
  2. Get advice on establishing a constitution and committee
  3. Connect with other local residents who want to be involved
  4. Begin planning activities and improvements
