Get help if you're in an emergency financial situation
We set up the emergency support scheme to provide discretionary support to Royal Greenwich residents in difficult times. This could be after a house fire or flood.
There are two types of support available:
- community support awards
- emergency support payments
Who can apply
To qualify, you must:
- live in Royal Greenwich and
- be aged 18 or over - or aged 16 to 17 and living with parents or guardians
You're unlikely to be awarded support through the scheme if:
- your benefits have been stopped (sanctioned) – you can apply for a hardship payment instead, ask your local Jobcentre for a JSA10 form (or call 0800 328 9344 if you are claiming Universal Credit)
- you've verified your Universal Credit claim and are waiting for your first payment – you can apply for an advance by contacting the DWP or through your online journal
We get a lot of applications and queries about this scheme. We’ll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
You can also contact our Community Hub - they may be able to help with things like delivering food packages, picking up prescriptions and connecting you to local services.
