Visitors are urged to use public transport wherever possible to get to the event.

The Easter weekend of 13 to 16 April will see around 30 Tall Ships come to the Royal Borough of Greenwich for the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta. As well as the Tall Ships themselves, there will also be two festival sites at Greenwich town centre and the Woolwich Royal Arsenal which will be very busy.

The best way to travel is by public transport

With parking places limited and visitor numbers set to be very high, the best way to get to the Tall Ships Festival is by public transport and the Royal Borough is urging visitors to leave their vehicles at home, and plan their journey in advance.

Councillor Sizwe James, Cabinet Member for Transport, Economy and Smart Cities, said: "The Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta is going to be hugely popular and we are expecting thousands of visitors to come. There may be some transport disruptions over the Easter holidays, so I would urge you to plan your journey in advance to both festival sites, and be prepared for all public transport routes to be very busy. To protect the parking for our local residents and businesses, some of the parking restrictions near to the event sites are being extended over the Easter weekend.

"We're all really looking forward to what promises to be a magnificent event and we very much hope our residents and businesses won't experience too much inconvenience. Anyone living locally should make the most of this advantage by spending as much time at the Tall Ships Festival as possible!"

Blue Badge holders can park for free in council-run car parks.
