Royal Greenwich is home to over 100 beautiful parks, and we care strongly about maintaining clean and safe spaces.

As people continue to enjoy the summer weather outdoors with their dogs, we need our residents’ help to keep our award-winning parks clean, green and safe for everyone.

If you bring your dog along to our parks, here are some ways you can help make sure our parks are clean and fun to use for all:

  • Pick up your dog waste to dispose in any general waste bins. If public waste bins are full, please take home any rubbish or dog waste and double bag them before leaving them in your black top non-recycling bins.

  • Be mindful of other park users by keeping track of your dog – remember that parks staff may ask you to use a lead in any of our parks.

  • You may bring up to four dogs per dog walker.

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: “We are committed to making our neighbourhoods vibrant, safe and attractive with community services that meet the needs of local residents.

“With the summer here, there’s no better time to spend time outdoors with loved ones and our furry friends, and we want to be sure that parks are clean and welcoming to our visitors. We are thankful to all residents and park visitors who help clean up our spaces clean and tidy.”

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said: “We are so proud of the over 100 beautiful parks in Royal Greenwich, many of which are award-winning. We want to keep our parks clean, green, and safe for anyone who visits, including pets. With the cooperation of visitors and responsible dog owners, we hope to maintain the high standard of our clean, beautiful parks.”

Practicing responsible dog ownership can help make for cleaner more enjoyable parks for you and other park users, as well as a safer day out in the sun for your dog. Here are some ways you can care for your dog in the summer heat:

  • Avoid high temperatures by taking your dog out for a walk earlier in the day.

  • Stay in the shade where possible.

  • Bring plenty of water so both you and your dog can stay hydrated!
