The Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee and it’s panels examine the work of the Cabinet.

They carry out investigations into areas such as crime and disorder, health, adult social care, education, employment and street services.  It’s currently working out its 2023/24 work programme and would like residents to put forward ideas on what it should look at.

You can put forward any issues you would like to see discussed by the below panels:

  • Overview and Scrutiny Committee

  • Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel

  • Healthier Communities and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Panel

  • Community Safety and Environment Scrutiny Panel

  • Corporate Finance and Performance Scrutiny Panel

  • Regeneration, Transport and Culture Scrutiny Panel

  • Housing and Anti-Poverty Scrutiny Panel

Councillor Clare Burke-McDonald, Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, said: “As residents, you have the power to influence and improve the services that you receive by suggesting reviews of Council decisions, policies and service performance.  Input from local people and organisations is a crucial part of our scrutiny review process.

“We want to hear your suggestions of what should be scrutinised over the next 12 months. Let us know now.”

Scrutiny will consider issues as a whole and won’t look into individual cases. These should be raised with the Councillor in your ward.

To share your ideas complete the survey before Tuesday 28 February. Find out more about the Overview and Scrutiny.
