School student

More children have been offered a place at their top preferred secondary school in Royal Greenwich this year as students find out where they’ll be starting their studies in September.

Despite the impact of the pandemic, we’re pleased that 65% of all applicants will have the opportunity to join their favoured school, which is a 5% rise from last year.

A total of 2,444 offers have been made for Royal Greenwich schools, working out at 75% of students staying in the borough.

Councillor Matt Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Young People, said: “We all want our children to have the best start to their secondary education and giving them a place in a Royal Greenwich school is the best way to make sure we do that.

“Moving on to secondary school is an exciting time in a child’s life and I am sure there are many families now eagerly looking forward to September and the start of the new term. I wish all our students the best of luck with their secondary studies!”

In total, we received 3,238 applications from Royal Greenwich households for 3,109 places, showing how popular our local schools are.
