More than 1,400 presents will be donated to children across Royal Greenwich thanks to the kindness of Londoners.  

People across the capital have dug deep into their own pockets this Christmas to ensure that some of our most vulnerable children have something to open on the big day.  

Royal Borough of Greenwich workers have been pleasantly inundated with everything from cuddly toys to dinosaur excavation kits following the Metropolitan Police’s annual Christmas Tree Appeal.  

Children’s services staff have been busy sorting through the mountains of toys and games and bagging them up ready to be distributed with help from our partners at GS Plus.  

Sadly, we don’t have a sleigh, but the council will help make sure these amazing presents are delivered in time for Christmas. 

Councillor Matt Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “It’s always really humbling to see how generous people can be, and this year is no exception. It’s the season of goodwill and Royal Greenwich is not short of that.  

“We all know how stressful this time of year can be for families, so these simple acts of kindness will go a long way in ensuring that our children and young people have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you to everyone who has donated.”
