Plumstead Manor joins the 94 per cent of schools judged 'Good' or 'Outstanding' in the borough.

Plumstead Manor, a girls' comprehensive school in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, has been judged a 'Good school in all respects' by Ofsted following an inspection in May 2018.

Swift progress made in just two years

The swift progress from 'Requiring Improvement' to 'Good', made in just over two years since Ofsted's last inspection in March 2016, coincides with the school becoming co-educational from September 2018.

Ofsted inspectors found that the school provides pupils with a good education - students leave well equipped for the next stages of their education or career, and for their future lives as responsible citizens. They also commented that as students progress through the school, they gain in self-confidence and self-awareness.

Significantly improved teaching has secured improved progress, and students through the school make good progress overall.

Rating is an example of the high quality of our schools

Councillor David Gardner Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "Plumstead Manor is another shining example of the high quality of schools and education that parents and pupils alike can expect in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

"The school's latest Ofsted rating is well deserved and a brilliant recognition of all their hard work."

'Proud to be a local authority school'

The school's Head Teacher, Douglas Greig commented: "I would like to pay tribute to the hard work of the staff and students here at Plumstead Manor who together have secured this outcome. Our ambition is to provide the outstanding education set out clearly in our vision, and which the young people and families of Greenwich deserve.

"We are proud to be a local authority comprehensive school, which has improved rapidly over the last two years, and look forward to continuing the work we have begun in transforming the quality of education we provide.

"We're delighted that this Ofsted report recognises the product of our hard work, and our determination to offer young people of all abilities and backgrounds a world-class education in a safe and vibrant community."
