Primary and secondary school applications for September 2018 are now open.
You can now apply for your children to start primary or secondary school in 2018. For both applications you can apply for up to six schools in order of your preference. The more schools you list the more likely you are to be offered a place at one of your choices.
Visit before you apply
Visiting schools can be a good way to find out what they have to offer. Most schools give prospective parents the chance to visit the school to meet staff and students.
How to apply
The easiest way to apply is online through the eAdmissions portal - it's quick, easy and secure, plus you will find out your result more quickly. If you prefer to complete a paper form you can download a printable copy. Make sure you use the correct postage so it does not get delayed as if your application arrives after the closing date it will be treated as a late application.
Closing dates are:
- 31 October 2017 for secondary schools
- 15 January 2018 for primary schools.
Parents can apply for schools in any area but if you live in Royal Greenwich you need to apply through the Royal Borough of Greenwich. If you live in another borough, you need to apply through your home authority even if you wish to apply for a place in a Royal Greenwich school.
'Carefully research your choices'
Councillor Chris Kirby, Cabinet Member covering the portfolio for Children and Young People, said: "Starting primary school and secondary school are important and exciting milestones in every child's life so I'd recommend that parents start thinking about suitable schools early on. It's a good idea to carefully research your choices by looking around schools and meeting the staff to get a good feel for what they are like.
"There's never been a better time to start school in Royal Greenwich as 97 per cent of our primary schools have been rated as 'good' or 'outstanding' by Ofsted, well above the national average of 91 per cent."
