We've won two awards for helping residents through cost of living crisis

Staff from the Royal Borough of Greenwich picking up their Awards at the Advising Londoners Awards

We have been recognised for our commitment to supporting residents through the cost of living crisis, winning two awards at the first ever Advising Londoners Awards.

The council secured wins in:

  • Best borough-wide advice team: Greenwich Advice Hubs
  • Best use of evidence: Greenwich Welfare Rights Service, recognised for our work on Universal Credit managed migration

Our Money Advice Team was also shortlisted in the best contribution by a team category

Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business, Skills and Greenwich Supports said: “We’re so proud of our team of advisors for winning two awards, they are at the forefront of supporting our residents when they need us most.

“We know that their compassion, expertise and dedication to residents every day is creating a lasting impact in our communities. We will continue to strive to ensure that people have the right resources to improve their situation.”

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Council said: “These wins aren’t just about recognition. They represent thousands of residents who have been able to access the right support at the right time.

“Our teams and volunteers work tirelessly to reduce hardship and ensure no one faces difficult times alone. They are a lifeline for thousands across the borough, and we couldn’t be prouder.”

These awards highlight the work being done in a range of areas, from ensuring households can access the right benefits to providing free, confidential guidance on money, debt and legal issues.

The ceremony brought together organisations from across London who are committed to helping people navigate rising costs and financial hardship. Judges shared highly positive feedback on the council’s work.
