What you need do to get your rebate will depend on how you pay for your council tax.  

Be aware of scams

The council will not call residents to ask for bank details for the council tax rebate. Do not give your personal bank details to anyone claiming to be from the Council Tax office.

Applying for your payment

You will need to apply for your payment. 

To apply, you will need:   

• your 8-digit council tax account number, shown on your bill 
• your property reference number. You can find this on the GOV.UK council tax band checker tool.
• your contact details 
• a copy of your bank statement which shows your name, address, sort code and bank account number 

Apply online

We are working with Grant Approval so that you can apply for your rebate online. You’ll need to register first.  

You can choose to have your payment put into your bank account or credited to your council tax account.

After you apply, we will review your information and match it to our council tax system. If you’re eligible, we will pay you.
