Join a Friends of Parks group
Friends of Parks groups are made up of local residents who care about their park.
They help organise clean-ups, host community events, apply for funding, and work with the council to improve facilities.
You can help improve and care for green spaces in Royal Greenwich by joining or starting a Friends of Parks group.
As a member of a Friends of Parks group, you can:
- influence decisions about your local park
- organise community events and activities
- participate in improvement projects
- help with conservation efforts
- meet like-minded neighbours

Many parks and open spaces in Royal Greenwich already have active Friends of Parks Groups you can join:
- Friends of Avery Hill Park
- Friends of Charlton Park
- Friends of East Greenwich Pleasaunce
- Friends of Maryon Parks
- Friends of Plumstead Common
How to join a Friends of Parks group
You can register your interest by filling out our online form.
We will ask for:
- your name
- your email address
- your phone number
- which park you are interested in
Our Parks team will contact you to help connect you with the local group.

If you take part in activities in parks and open spaces, it’s important to understand how to work safely.

- common risks in park activities
- how to use tools safely
- how to work in public spaces
- what to do to reduce risks
Volunteers should read the risk assessment guide before taking part and only carry out tasks once they understand any risks involved.
