Love Your Neighbourhood is a volunteer scheme for residents who want to keep their area clean and well-maintained.
You can take part in community clean-ups, care for parks, and report issues like litter or graffiti.
You'll be part of a network of volunteer residents working together to improve our shared spaces and create a sense of civic pride.
How to participate
You can participate in this volunteer scheme by:
- joining or starting a Friends of the Parks group
- becoming an environment champion
- taking part in library litter picks

Join your local Friends of Parks group

- have a say in what happens in your local park
- help with activities like planting and maintenance
- join community events and meet your neighbours
- help secure funding for park improvements
You can join an existing group or we can help you set a new one for your local park or open space.

Remove your street from our weed spraying programme
If you prefer a natural approach to weed control, you can apply to opt out of our weed spraying programme.
Once you opt out, we’ll stop spraying your street with chemical weed treatments. You and your neighbours will be responsible for taking care of the weeds along your street.
You can register your interest to opt out by filling out an online form.

Become a Snow Champion
Snow champions help keep pavements in their local area safe and walkable during winter. You'll work with other volunteers to clear snow and ice keep from pavements that are not on our priority gritting routes.
We'll provide:
- equipment for snow clearing
- de-icing salt
- support to help you get started
This scheme is currently in development for next winter. Register your interest now and we'll keep you updated when it launches later this year.
