Who is responsible for enforcement?
Responsibility for health and safety advice and enforcement is shared between the Health and Safety Executive and your local Council.
Health and Safety Executive
The Health and Safety Executive will deal with your query if you work in:
- a factory
- in the transport industry
- on a construction site.
Local authority
The Council's Environmental Health department will deal with your query if you work in:
- a shop
- an office
- a warehouse
- on other retail premises.
Fire safety
Fire safety issues are dealt with by the London Fire Brigade.
