External cladding and wall insulation

There are six blocks in the Royal Borough with external cladding. The cladding used on these tower blocks is 'FunderMax Exterior Cladding Panels'. They are high pressured laminated panels, composed of cellulose fibres impregnated with synthetic resin.

None of the blocks are clad with the Reynobond aluminium cladding system used at Grenfell Tower.

External wall insulation is not the same as cladding. In tower blocks, it comprises a non-combustible 'Rockwool' insulation layer which is enclosed within a non-combustible render finish without air gaps.

The products meet current fire safety standards to minimise the spread of fire. They follow Class 'O' requirements of the Building Regulations (2010) that apply in England and Wales and has British Board of Agrément (BBA) fire safety certification.

Please note: We have not used the same contractors involved with the Grenfell Tower refurbishment.
