Electricity and gas supply

We arrange for your gas and electric to be supplied by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE). We provide them with meter readings and arrange for a meter key or card to be sent to you if needed.

If you want to change your supplier you can arrange a transfer with your chosen company. This usually takes around one month to complete.

What to do if there is a problem with the meter key

Sometimes there is a debt on the electric or gas meter, or we're not able to supply a key or card.

If the electric key is missing you'll need to request an RTI code from SSE on 03450 267038. The RTI code is an eight digit number which you take to your local pay point outlet to get a new key. You'll need to give SSE all the meter readings and wait one hour after getting the code.

If you have the electric key but there is already debt on it you should:

  • take the key to your local pay point outlet (usually a newsagent or supermarket) and pay enough money to cover the debt. Keep the receipt and contact SSE on 03450 267038 to arrange a refund or
  • request an RTI code from SSE if you don't have enough money to pay the debt.

If there is a problem with the gas card then contact SSE on 03450 267039.
