Who can apply to join the housing register

If you have no other suitable housing options, you can apply to join the housing register. This is a list of people who are allowed to apply for social housing.

If we accept your application, we'll add you to our housing register.

Who can apply 

Most people are allowed to apply.

Legally, you cannot join the register if you're:

  • from abroad and subject to immigration control
  • from abroad and have not been habitually resident in the UK for 5 years
  • a British citizen and have not been habitually resident in the UK for 5 years
