Join in on a free creative art workshop hosted by Age UK Bromley & Greenwich for Royal Greenwich residents 50+!
The Sherard Road Collective is open to Greenwich residents 50 years + who are interested in developing fine art skills in a supportive, creative, group environment. No previous art experience required. Sessions are:
- Batik: 12, 19 January
- Using dyes and resist methods on fabric to form pattern and colour to create images.Learn how to make Batik including Shibori, the Japanese technique which dates to the 08 century
- Folk art embroidery: 26 January, 2 February
- Learn embroidery techniques to use to create images as part of creating collages and mixed media images.
- Stained glass: 9 February
- Learn how to copper foil, and solder pre-cut stained glass to produce a 3D or 2D piece.
- Wood and lino cuts: 16, 23 February
- Learn and develop lino and wood cutting printing methods to produce an image.
- Open session: 1 March
- Explore using elements of all disciplines taught in this programme to create an image.
- Exhibition preparation: 8 March
- Working in partnership with our Men and Women in Sheds, prepare images for exhibition including mounting and framing the pieces.
All final pieces will be on display at a celebratory community exhibition at the end of each programme.
