The Council has voiced strong opposition to Brexit since the vote in 2016.

Continuing with the UK’s departure from the EU will cause our residents and businesses to face unprecedented challenges that will seriously affect our quality of life.

 

We have been supporting our diverse community throughout the Brexit process, not just by reiterating our opposition politically with motions in our Council chamber, but practically through business support workshops, providing identity verification service for residents and more.

 

It is devastating to think that our community could be eroded by the effects of leaving the EU – that the most vulnerable among us will be forced to rely on foodbanks and see their finances and support services dwindle even further.

 

We are inviting residents, businesses and our European friends to fight back against this threat. Please join us at an event hosted by Danny Thorpe, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, as we reaffirm our commitment to a united Europe, a stronger borough and a place where everyone can thrive. The event will take place on Wednesday 23rd October from 7- 8.30pm in the IKEA Community Hub at the following address:
