What we do

Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB) can help you improve your skills, gain access to training, employment and apprenticeship opportunities. We provide free careers information, advice and guidance, employment support and a job matching service. Whether you are looking for your first opportunity, next job or are interested in getting back to work after a break, GLLaB works with a range of partners to improve your chances of success.

Why we need your information and how we use it

We need your personal data in order to provide you with Employment and Skills services that you sign up to and also to capture this information in order to meet our obligations for the purpose of satisfying monitoring, reporting and audit requirements. We will use your personal data to confirm eligibility for our Employment Support Programmes.

We will only collect personal data that is absolutely necessary and any information we collect about you will be strictly in accordance with the Data Protection legislation and other statutory obligations which we are bound by.  Your contact details may be used to re-contact you after you may have left the operation.  If contacted, you may refuse to be included in the evaluation report.

The information you provide us with will be used to:

  • refer you to the relevant employment support Programmes
  • source and Identify appropriate training opportunities for you
  • inform you of current job and apprenticeship opportunities and to refer you to suitable employment opportunities
  • identify any additional support you could access from other organisations in the borough to address any barriers to employment or training
  • monitor the service to ensure that there is an equality of opportunity for all Greenwich residents
  • report on participant data
What is our power to obtain and use personal data?

The lawful basis for collecting and using your personal information will depend on the service and will normally be:

  • where we need to for the purposes of statutory Department for Education functions
  • where we have your consent to do so
  • where we have a legal obligation
  • where we need to for the purposes of our legal obligations with our external funding organisations

If we are processing your personal information using your consent, you can withdraw your consent at any time.

What type of information we collect

To effectively support you in identifying the appropriate training and employment opportunities as well as the employment programmes you may be eligible for, the following information is collected:

  • Full name
  • Full postal address
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Email address
  • Contact number
  • National insurance number
  • Residential status – care leaver or in residential care
  • Employment status
  • Benefit claimant status
  • Length of unemployment
  • Household type
  • Level of computer literacy and basic skills
  • ESOL needs
  • Job goals – salary expectation, desired working pattern
  • Work history
  • Criminal record, if any
  • Qualifications and training
  • Equal opportunity monitoring – gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, any impairments, religion, ethnic origin
  • Personal circumstances - dependent children, lone parent status, caring responsibilities, country of birth, length of time resident in the Royal borough of Greenwich
Who we may share your information with

Your data may be shared with the following:

  • Internal council departments
  • Employers
  • Training and education providers
  • Programme delivery partners such as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Funders
  • Other partner agencies that provide services on our behalf
  • Agencies with whom we have a duty to co-operate such as the police
How long we keep your information

Personal data will not be retained for longer than necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected. For those on an employment support programme, the data will be kept for the period specified by the Funder, which will vary by programme.

Customers engaging on specific programmes are advised to refer to the privacy notice for the programme that they are registered with. Please contact your Employment Support Officer for details.
