If you've paid but you get a reminder
You could get a reminder notice by mistake, for example if:
- you pay by cash but later in the month
- there's a problem with your payment
If you pay by cash
You should pay by the first day of each month. If you pay later in the month, you may get a reminder notice. If your payments are up to date, you do not need to do anything.
If you have arrears, you must make sure you pay the exact instalment amount for the current year.
If there's a problem with your payment
This could happen, for example, if you used the wrong reference number. If a payment is not showing on your account, you can ask us to trace a missing payment.
If you're waiting for a decision
You must continue to pay Council Tax while you wait to hear about any appeal or application. For example, if you're appealing your Council Tax band or you've applied for a discount or exemption.
If you've moved
You must continue to pay Council Tax until we send your closing bill. Tell us you're moving home.
