You can ask us to do this if you've made a payment but it's not showing on your account.

This is not the same as not making a payment. You can get help if you're struggling to pay Council Tax.

A Council Tax payment usually shows on your account within 3 working days. It will take longer at weekends and bank holidays.

What to check first

If you're sure that you paid on time, check your online Council Tax account.

Check that your payment's been authorised. For example, the money's left your bank account, or you have a receipt.

Check that you sent your payment to our account:

  • account name: Royal Borough of Greenwich
  • account number: 11464763
  • sort code: 60-24-26
  • bank name: National Westminster Bank PLC

Check that you used the right Council Tax account number as your payment reference.

Check that the payment has not gone to another Council Tax account. You may have more than one, for example, if you have arrears at your previous address.

If you do not pay the exact instalment amount for the current year, your payment will go to any arrears you may have.

Ask us to trace a payment

You'll need to give us as much information as you can to help us trace your payment.

You'll need to tell us:

  • your Council Tax account number
  • where you paid
  • when you paid
  • how you paid
Trace a missing payment

What happens next

It can take up to 21 days for us to investigate a missing payment.

We may ask you for more information.
