There are things you can do to reduce the impact of flooding on your property. They include: 

• using sustainable drainage systems like water butts and rain garden planters
• using a permeable material for paving, like block paving, asphalt or concrete
• having electrical sockets higher up
• storing important documents off the floor
• mounting your TV on the wall
