Update an approval with linked outdoor areas

New legislation means that approved premises can now conduct ceremonies in available linked outdoor areas.

If your premises holds an approval certificate granted before April 2022, and it’s not within its 12-month renewal period, you can complete a separate online application form so that:

  • we can update your certificate free of charge to include linked outdoor areas
  • you can access online information about the future use of linked outdoor areas

If your approval certificate was issued or renewed after April 2022, and you want to add linked outdoor areas, use the standard application form.

The approval-holder or responsible person must get this approval before arranging any outdoor ceremonies. This is to avoid a situation where a ceremony cannot take place on the day because the venue fails to meet the ‘seemly and dignified’ condition.

Renew a licence

You can renew your approval at any time during the 12 months prior to its expiry date.
