Apply to hold marriages and civil partnerships at your venue

This information is for event venues wanting to hold marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. 

To hold marriages and civil partnerships at your venue, you need approval if you’re a: 

• non-religious venue wanting to hold wedding or civil partnership ceremonies
• religious venue wanting to hold civil partnership ceremonies 

An approval certificate lasts for 5 years. 

Marriages and civil partnerships can be between a man and a women, or between 2 people of the same sex.
