Before you apply

Prepare your supporting documents

Our online form allows you to upload documents.

If you do not attach all the necessary supporting documents, we cannot process your application. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we will not contact you about this.

 If you do not hear from us within 2 weeks of applying, it's because you submitted an incomplete application.

You need to provide copies of:

• 1 photo ID document – passport, UK photocard, driving licence
• 1 proof of address document dated within the last 3 months - utility bill, bank statement, Council Tax bill
• proof of your national insurance number - national insurance card, HMRC letter
• your public liability insurance – this must have a minimum cover of £5 million
• proof of PAT tests for any electrical equipment you need for trading
• gas safety certificate for any gas equipment you need for trading
• your Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, if you run a food business
•  picture, sketch or plan of the proposed layout

Register your food business

If you run a food business, you must register it with our environmental health team before you apply for a market trader licence. This applies if you:

• prepare food
• sell food
• store food
• transport food to sell

Availability

When we have pitches available at Beresford Square Market, we’ll publish the market trader application form on this page.

We want to offer a range of stalls to the local community. This means we often specify the type of traders we have vacancies for.

We’re accepting applications

We currently have 6 pitches available. There are:

• 3 pitches measuring 4 x 2 metres
• 2 pitches measuring 4 x 2 metres for trading only on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
• 2 pitches measuring 4 x 4 metres
• 1 pitch measuring 4 x 2 metres for hot food traders only
