About special treatment licences
When you need a licence
To provide special treatments at your premises, you must have a licence.
Special treatments include:
- massage
- tattooing and microblading
- water treatments such as saunas
- electrical treatments
- other health and beauty treatments
To check if a treatment needs a licence, check the A to Z of treatments:
It’s an offence to provide or advertise a special treatment at a premises without a valid licence. Anyone found guilty of an offence can be fined up to £2,500.
When you may not need a licence
You may not need a licence if everyone who works at your premises is:
- a fully-registered osteopath – but they will need a licence for acupuncture
- part of an exempted health body:
